seems like the haigh holiday curse has hit again, with Thailand suffering a coup(somewhat ordered maybe but still a coup). hopefully things will have progressed by the time we go in 3 and a half weeks time, and it seems that having your photo taking with a smiling soldier is the done thing. It also seems ironic that to help quell any uprising they took all the TV channels offline and played continuous footage of the royal family. in this country that would be the way to start an uprising. cna you imagine replacing coronation street with footage of the queen and prince charles? there's be rioting on the streets within minutes.
second thought of the day is to do with the film we went to see last night. The Children of Men. bloody marvellous and I highly recommend it. Story is good, acting excellent (good old Michale Caine does old hippy so well!) but once of the diconcerting things was how they captured the "future" really well. it was the same but different. such similarities to now that it seemed so scarily possible, as opposed to many other films set in the future where you can comfort yourself that it's so different it'll never happen, this really looked possible, and very disturbingly so. go see....
Forgive The Beatles Sgt. Pepper reference, it came out of nowhere but just
felt appropriate, so given the “occasion”, I’m sticking with it as this
