feeling a bit rough

had a good weekend but had to take things easy as by sunday my throat was sore and my nose was running. never a good sign....
My snotty nose could possibly be an allergy to IKEA as Sarah, Paul and I visited the mecca on saturday morning after a jolly evening and Mr and Mrs Wood's on Friday. Paul had to be persuaded to come but he soon got into the swing of things, and was lulled into parting with cash alongside the two of us. It was good to see that Ikea have finally removed the barriers which force you to go and collect your car, they used to drive me nuts when I went on my own and had to abandon my purchases to go and bring the car round to the collection bay, I always felt it was discrimination against single people. Typical they finally change it all when i finally become attached!

ooooh I'm famous!!!

I've just had an e-mail read out on Jonnie walker's radio 2 show!!! I'm famous!!
Nothing politically insiteful or intellectually pointed, I was just writing to say how much I like Nerina Pallots album as she was playing on the show today. but who cares.... HOW COOL IS THAT!!!!!
I had friday and monday off so that Paul and I could go up north to see some friends. i have to admit I'm a big fan of long weekends, obviously i'd not be a fan of the reduction in wages but there are times when the 3 day week concept of 1974 seem highly atttractive. although perhaps we'd all be forced to wear bell bottoms and sideburns too....

anyway, i digress.. we went to Lytham on friday which is a really pretty place, and then on up to Galasheils on the sat. the fog coming back on monday was pants and lead to a bloody long drive home but in all it was a really relaxing weekend.

My cats have only just forgiven me for taking them to the vet on friday morning for a jab. Millie was very badly behaved and hissed permanently at the nice vet. jet just looked sorely pissed off with me. They meowed in beautiful unison all the way there and back in the car. bless em

sundays... love 'em...

yeah I'm back online. thanks to Paul who managed to resolve my technological issues (he's not started on my other issues yet...)so now thanks to him and wireless networking I'm able to blog whilst watching the repeat of X factor... fab.
Not that I'm a big fan but it beats hollyoaks.
so I spent week travelling basically. I was in Poland with one of my service managers recruiting for more Polish technicians to work on our trucks. it was worthwhile and we got some really good people - some of them travelled over 200 miles for the interview at their own expense, and they are all willing to leave their wives and family to come to the UK. Just a shame we can't get decent people in the UK really. It was a knackering trip though, not helped by a 5 hour delay at Luton which meant we didn't arrive at Wroclaw until gone midnight, and then I managed to oversleep on the last morning, and woke up 3 minutes before I was being picked up to go to the airport...!!! oops! Managed to get up, dress, pack and clean my teeth in six minutes though, not bad!!!
back in the UK, I made it though friday evening barely awake, then saturday was spent cleaning the house. depressingly dull but necessary. also realised I'd thrown away an important document away so spent most of the afternoon looking for it (tidying things as I went so i guess it wasn't all a waste of time), even rifled through the bin a couple of times, mmm week old banana skins, yum....

Last night we went to see the Constant Gardener - excellent film!

technology is pants

grrr, my internet at home isn't working, some guy from work came and fitted my wireless networking so that I can use my work laptop on my broadband and in different parts of my house (becuase I have SOOOO many rooms...) - it worked for a few days and now it's gone kaput and it's driving me nuts. I want to write my blog, i want to order pointless things, i want to write a wish list on amazon for my christmas pressies, I want to catch up on whats on at the cinema.... oh what did I do before broadband??? so i'm cheating adn writing this whislt at work.

the good news is it's friday! yeah the weekend looms once more! nothing too thrilling planned, bar fireworks somewhere along the way. last weekend we went to see Boo Hewerdine who used to front a band called the Bible. Not well known but writes fab songs that others sing (such as Eddie Reader and the like). just him, a guitar and a small room of people, that's what I call a top night out. he was brilliant. there's something so amazing about the simplicity of music without the big amps, drums and all that techy stuff.

anyway, good news on the baby front for clr and ed - congrats guys!

back to work for me.....
