ok, so we may be a little late to this particular party, but we seem to have hit a certain stage in our lives where we feel the need to follow in the footsteps of our esteemed Mr Bryors and Ms Kendal towards the good life. as such, it was with great delight that we took delivery yesterday of our very own composter.
It's rather large in comparison with the rest of our garden, and looks a little like a certain enemy of the good DR. In fact we have consdiered sticking a sink plunger on the front and setting up an mp3 recording of "exterminate" to play whenever a cat goes near it, but we thought the neighbours might not be in sync with our own particular brand of humour.
But anyway, back to the point of all this.... bring on the potato peelings - never has waste been so exciting. Any tips from you old hands out there will be appreciated!
Happy Birthday, Sis! Forty fucking years old! Can’t believe we’re
celebrating this milestone without you still knocking around, but celebrate
it we will. P...

We initially put our tardis in a discreet corner - but it didn't get enough sun / hot enough. So it is now much more public. Also, since we have a small garden we struggle to get enough garden waste and too much kitchen waste - so our compost heap is very wet and it is beetles not worms doing the breaking down. We have tried using newspaper and card to redress the imbalance.
We also think that two bins is better than one - so they can be rotated and you can use the better rotted compost. However we can't find space for the second, so getting the good compost out of the bottom is a very messy and unpleasant business.
