Well new year, new coat, new corkscrew and new depression. Boy oh boy don’t you just love going back to work.
Christmas went by without too many traumas. Managed to be on my best behaviour with paul’s family, and coped with the claustrophobia that was 22 people in my parents living room on Boxing day. Got some fab presents (as detailed above) and gave some pretty damn good ones too. It’s funny when, out of all the wonderful things you buy your boyfriend the thing he loves the most is the £3.oo torch from Avon which shows a batman logo when you shine it. Bless…….
New year was fun, we went up to Galasheils to see some friends on the way up to Glenmore. Played an excellent game which I can’t remember then name of but it involved putting down phrases or descriptions that had to apply to an object or thing. Sounds weird but actually very good. I also drank a vast quantity of red wine. Ho hum.
Then drove on up to Aviemore in the snow, ten minutes outside of Aviemore there was no snow. Must have been the only place in the UK with no snow!!! Still, it was snowy in the right places and made for some good walking. Paul’s friends were really nice and welcoming. A couple are in the mountain rescue in the Lakes and had heard from co-rescuers that they had had to rescue a guy with a broken leg who and put his ice-axe through his tendons at the same time. Ouch. Seemed quite a good tale until I got a text from Rachel telling me Si had broken his leg in the lakes and had to be rescued. Few texts later and I was assured Si’s leg was broken but his ice axe was nowhere near….. guess he’ll fill us in on the details when he can!
So I actually managed a bit of walking, although it’s a bit harder when you’re not with your own mates that you can happily have a girlie strop with and not worry about them thinking you’re weird (my mates already thing this so no loss there really). We chilled out in the evening, watched the odd dvd and played some games. Ventured into the heady delight of Aviemore for new years eve and basically had a relaxing time. It’s just such a shame that I have to go back to work…….
Forgive The Beatles Sgt. Pepper reference, it came out of nowhere but just
felt appropriate, so given the “occasion”, I’m sticking with it as this
