after a knackering trip to Poland I am back in the land of the living. I was there to recruit mechanics as we have a major shortage over in the UK and they are clamouring for decent jobs/wages over there. The reality of how tough it is for them was pretty stark when you really get talking to them, and despite the obvious arguments about draining their country of resource it clearly is something that the individuals want to do, to try and create a better life for themselves and their families. It's such a lovely place, but when they are working all hours to earn less in a month that some peope in the UK do it 2 days it's a pretty damn thankless task.
It was a gruelling couple of days, interviewing 20 people one after the other, not helped by the horrendous hangover I had from downing nearly 2 bottles of red wine on a stomach that had only been lined by a bowl of cereal, a picnic bar and a polish sausgage in the preceeding 24 hours. I don't exactly make life easy for myself though do I!
So it's now friday I'm working from home and I like this lifestyle. I've just received an e-mail from my American cousin who I haven't seen for many years, and who has just had a little baby boy. Great news all round.
The thunder has come and gone, it's still muggy though..... perhaps we're in for some more sun?
Forgive The Beatles Sgt. Pepper reference, it came out of nowhere but just
felt appropriate, so given the “occasion”, I’m sticking with it as this
